Evaluating Target Group of Readers for Various Magazines

Reader Target Group:
The age group targeted for this magazine is mainly around 15-18. This age group also includes with people with the same thinking mentality as those age groups who may be even 30 or older. This is because the cover is more visual because  the colours are more vibrant and it looks a little childish. The looks of the magazine affect feelings. So maybe if the person is feeling young, he might want to get the magazine. The magazine is filled with information from different games so the magazine’s target group might also be targeted at those who just started out playing games and those want to know more about different games. The main target group for gender would be about 85% male because the games shown on the cover page are more catered towards guys. The front cover shows games such as grand theft auto, Assasin’s Creed 3 which are violent in nature. The magazine may also be targeted at those who want helpful tips on specific games as shown on the magazine, ‘ Grand Theft Auto: 20 secrets you must know’. The target group is also people that have money and interested in games of course.

Reader Target Group:
The age group targeted for this magazine is mainly around 18 and older, those with a real interest and serious in PlayStation games. Also because it has a sticker on the front cover that says 18. This is because the cover looks more mature, sophisticated and stylish. Not much information is given on the front cover, only information one game.  Therefore, the other target group could be for those interested in that game: Hitman Absolution. The main target group for gender would be about 90% male because the game shown on the cover page is more catered towards guys. The target group also includes those who wants reviews about a certain game as shown ‘ Christmas Reviews Hitlist DISHONOURED NFS: Most Wanted Rocksmith Xcom + many more’.


Why a target group is important for a magazine?
A target group is important because it helps to identify the personality of the people that buy the magazine, which affects the design and content of it.
Once you know who it is you're going after then you can begin to design a plan around how to market the magazine to them so they can begin to learn what this magazine is about and get to like it so they would come and buy the magazine.
If you try to blanket everyone with one way you'll lose over half of the buyers simply because it doesn't apply to them and they are not interested.Target groups are important as you would know how to cater to their likes and wants of the content in a magazine and won't have to invest so much into marketing to get people to buy the magazine. The return would be higher.


How does it help in the magazines relationship with its advertisers?
Target groups helps to ensure that the magazine will deliver greater value to the advertisers as more people would buy the magazine which leads to more people viewing the advertisement. That causes the advertisers to establish a closer relationship to receptive buyers of the magazine, thus earn more revenue from them. In conclusion , the magazine relationship would increase tremendously with its advertisers and have a strong relationship.
